Women’s Reform Commission Report
The 10-member ‘Women’s Affairs Reform Commission’, headed by Shireen Parveen Huq, was constituted via a gazette notification by the Cabinet Division on November 18, 2024. The primary objective of the commission is to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, identify necessary steps to achieve gender equality, and formulate actionable recommendations for implementation across various timelines. The commission developed its recommendations by analyzing existing laws and regulations, reviewing research data, gathering field-level information, and consulting with experts. These measures have been framed for action during both the interim government’s term and the tenure of the subsequent elected government to bring about sustainable transformation in women’s status.
