The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard today.
According to the notification, the members of the committee include High Court Division Judge Razik-Al-Jalil, Controller and Auditor General Nurul Islam, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, and Public Service Commission Chairman Professor Mobasser Monem.
The notification said that the committee will recommend 2 candidates for each vacant post of ACC commissioner, in accordance with the provisions of Sub-section (4) of Section 7 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act. The president will make the final appointment from among them.
The Cabinet Division will provide the necessary secretarial support to the committee, it added.
Following the July mass uprising, the ACC chairman and two commissioners resigned on October 29, 2024. Subsequently, on December 10 of the same year, the interim government reconstituted the ACC, appointing former home secretary Abdul Momen as head of the commission.
However, this commission also resigned on March 3, just 16 days after the BNP government took office. Although nearly three and a half months have passed since then, the ACC has not yet been reconstituted, despite the ACC act requiring a new commission to be formed within one month of a resignation.
