In accordance with Articles 19, 27, 28 and 29 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the much-awaited ‘Elimination of Discrimination Act’ should be quickly enacted with the aim of eliminating all forms of discrimination in every field of the state and emphasis should be placed on its implementation.

This reform proposal has been articulated in the Women Reform Commission Report but has yet to be officially initiated.
Observation
    Civil society, particularly the Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, has long advocated for the enactment of an Anti-Discrimination Act. During the tenure of the previous government, the Citizen's Platform expressed concerns regarding the Anti-Discrimination Bill, 2022. During the Interim Government's tenure, it also advocated for amendments to the Bill and its enactment into law. However, the Interim Government did not promulgate an ordinance on the matter.

    Moreover, the elected government has not taken any publicly verifiable official step to enact the proposed Elimination of Discrimination Act. However, the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has publicly acknowledged the need for comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation, including clear definitions, an accessible complaint mechanism, remedies, and an effective oversight structure.

Ensure provision of age-appropriate comprehensive sexual education. In the integrated sex education curriculum, issues such as child marriage, sexual harassment and cervical cancer should be discussed separately with both girls and boys.
