This reform proposal has been articulated in the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission Report. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s manifesto for the 13th National Parliamentary Election also included directly related pledges: "Establishing day-care and breastfeeding corners at workplaces."

On 29 April 2026, the Prime Minister stated that a total of 64 childcare centres are operating in the country for the children of working mothers, where balanced food, pre-primary education, primary healthcare, and recreational facilities are provided. However, information regarding the location, operational status, capacity, or service quality of these centres was not found on any government website.
The budget speech mentioned that the govenrment has taken initiative to set up 20 modern daycare centres in the first phase followed by 60 centres in the second phase. In addition, under the FY27 Annual Development Programme (ADP), the incumbent government allocated Tk 50 crore for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) project titled "Establishment of 60 Child Daycare Centres." According to the ADP, the project is scheduled to be completed by 30 June 2027.

There are 64 daycare centres are active thoroughout the country. Under the FY27 Annual Development Programme (ADP), the incumbent government allocated Tk 50 crore for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) project titled "Establishment of 60 Child Daycare Centres." According to the ADP, the project is scheduled to be completed by 30 June 2027.Earlier, in a report published in the media on 2 April 2026, it was seen that food supply at 20 government childcare centres under the Department of Women Affairs was temporarily suspended due to non-payment of bills for nine months, and parents were asked to bring food for their children at their own responsibility. Later, following the intervention of the ministry, food supply resumed from the afternoon of the same day. The Director General of the Department of Women Affairs stated that although funds had been allocated for the project, payments were delayed due to some administrative complications, and the process of clearing the outstanding dues had begun. The incidents are raising questions regarding the institutional capacity to ensure financing, monitoring, quality control, and continuity of services alongside the expansion of childcare centres.
