This pledge is included in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s election manifesto for Bangladesh’s 13th national election. The pledge commits that “a separate education channel will be launched on national television to improve and expand educational quality.”
Observation
There is no publicly available information regarding the proposed education channel’s implementation mechanism, institutional ownership, or operational design. It is not clear whether the pledge will be implemented through BTV, Sangsad TV, a new government-owned channel, a renamed existing channel, or a digital-broadcasting platform. The ministry responsible for implementing the agency has also not been identified.
Bangladesh had previously implemented television-based education initiatives, including “Amar Ghore Amar School” and “Ghore Bose Shikhi”. These were temporary distance-learning arrangements implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic that used existing broadcast platforms.
