On 6 August 2026, the Prime Minister’s Office sent the Education Ministry the Record of Notes and meeting minutes containing the Prime Minister’s directive to examine the feasibility of establishing a dedicated National Education Channel so that students across the country could access classes from high-quality teachers. On 20 August, DSHE approved a time-bound work plan and subsequently reported that a draft action plan had been finalised to launch the channel using Sangsad TV’s technology.
Observation
The government has begun formal preparations for a dedicated National Education Channel, with DSHE preparing a draft action plan that envisages using Sangsad TV’s technology. This provides greater clarity on the possible delivery mechanism than was previously available. However, the final institutional arrangement, budget, operational model and launch timeline have not yet been publicly established.
Bangladesh had previously implemented television-based education initiatives, including “Amar Ghore Amar School” and “Ghore Bose Shikhi”. These temporary distance-learning arrangements implemented during the COVID-19 period may provide relevant institutional experience for the proposed channel.
