Election Manifesto of Bangladesh Nationalist Party - BNP
Stage of Implementation
Reform Proposed
Last Update: 10-Sep-26
This pledge was included in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) election manifesto for Bangladesh’s 13th national election. The manifesto states that "An Education Reform Commission will be formed on a priority basis. The main goal will be to include realistic, relevant components in the curriculum from the primary level, including multilingual learning, sports, culture, and personal and professional development."
Observation
-
The issue of forming the education reform commission as pledged in the BNP’s election manifesto is still under consideration, as communicated by the Prime Minister’s Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser, Mahdi Amin, on 30 August 2026. It has not been fully clarified whether the government will establish the Education Reform Commission in the near future to tackle long-standing structural challenges, including building an inclusive, universal primary education system that brings the fragmented public, private, English-medium and madrasa streams into a coherent national framework. It may be noted that several education reforms are already moving forward, including curriculum revisions for 2027 and a broader curriculum overhaul planned for 2028.
