This pledge is included in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s election manifesto for Bangladesh’s 13th national election. In its manifesto, BNP stated that, “if it came to power, “Notun Kuri” Quran recitation would be introduced.”

On 17 March 2026, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister announced that under education and human resource development measure, the government had taken a “Notun Kuri” culture, sports and Quran recitation initiative.

In June 2026, the Islamic Foundation issued an official notice setting out arrangements for the “Notun Kuri” National Hifzul Quran and Qiraat Competition 2026. The notice provided the framework for participation and the competition process, including arrangements for contestants selected for the national stage.

“Notun Kuri” Hifzul Quran and Seerat Competition, to be scheduled at its Agargaon headquarters on 26 June 2026. The Divisional-level winners were instructed to report by 9:00 am; participants were to receive photo identification cards and travel allowances based on distance, and the final competition was to begin at 10:00 am. The memorandum also stated that the names of national winners would be published after judging, while the award ceremony would be scheduled later following the Prime Minister’s consent.
