On 21 June 2026, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics formed a committee to prepare recommendations for ensuring the preparation and publication of quality statistics. Under its Terms of Reference, the committee was tasked with identifying the implementable recommendations of the BBS Reform Taskforce, preparing an item-wise course of action, and developing a time-bound action plan. It was also assigned to recommend specific proposals for establishing a legal basis to ensure the quality of data collected from other sources.

However, no publicly available information was identified confirming that the committee has submitted recommendations for amending the Act or preparing rules under a revised Act.
It may be noted that the taskforce proposal called for the recommendations contained in the reform proposals to be reflected in a revised version of the Statistics Act, 2013. It also envisaged preparing rules under the revised Act.
